Professor Emeritus Dr. M. Rezwan Khan
The World has seen an unprecedented development in IT over the last decade that has changed the chemistry of research and development (R&D) in every field, irrespective of its nature. Bangladesh, in general, is lagging behind the world community in this respect. Although the number of private and public universities has grown significantly over last 20 years, the mind set for research has not changed. Most of the universities either do not have any research fund or do not care for research. United International University has taken a humble but pioneering effort to promote research activities amongst its faculty members, leaving the option open for collaboration with academia and industry at home and abroad. IAR has taken an initiative to provide Tk. 15 crore of funding over a period of next 5 years with the expectation that it will bring in a qualitative change in the research culture. This also creates an opportunity for international collaboration, as the evaluation process of the submitted proposals provide significant weightage on it. Although we require the principal investigator to be from UIU for administrative reasons, collaborators from other institutions from home and abroad are welcome to join our humble effort in making Bangladesh a better knowledge creating society.
